Hi John,
I don't know where you are located, but if in the USA, Bluejacket Shipcrafters has a great line of brass stantions. I use the 1/96 scale for my ships, formerly using .020 brass rod with occasional .032 brass rod for stantions.
I lightly solder every third stantion for rigidity.

Have any of you used fishing line for your deck railings?
I'm about to start the finer detailing of my 72 scale kit which actually includes Stanchions made of thick Brass photo etch. Each Stanchion is 3 Bar with a 0.5mm hole drilled.
The chappy at Task Force 72 said he only uses Brass Rod.
I was preferring the fishing line as it can be stretched to maintain tension and fastened down with PE glue as well as possibly painted.
Please assist.
