Re: SSModel USS Arizona
The Kingfisher is wrong for this model. The model represents the Arizonia in the mid 1930s. No enclosed MK 19 AA directors on the upper bridge wings, no 50 cal MG bird bath on main mast, no 1.1" AA tubs, etc.
That model has a Kingfisher float plane. Those entered service in 1940. That makes the model essentially her Pearl Harbor fit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166157266083
I saw this model on their website. She has the tripod masts. Does anyone know what time period the model is suppose to represent? 1930's? Pearl Harbor? Thank you for your help.
I am very interested in the SSModel WWI-era Arkansas and North Dakota. I am leery of their advertising, though. They appear to use the same images for all scales from 1:1250 to 1:350, which benefits the smaller scales, and makes them appear to have an amazing amount of detail.
Has anybody bought one of these ships? I am very keen on the them because 3D has given model designers a way to approximate the look of cage masts; the bogey that has kept a fleet of great dreadnoughts from being modeled.
Any help would be very appreciated. Reviews or images of completed models would be helpful.
