Some years ago, I contracted Jacques Druel at L'Arsenal, who had been researching WWII French colors, sporadically for a number of years.
My query was specifically on ALGERIE as I had copped the 1:700 Combrig kit.
He was confident enough to suggest IJN sky gray & I went with it. I used the Polly Scale acrylic at the time.
Hope this is info you can use !!
I was knocked out by using an IJN color for a French vessel like ALGERIE- which is why I didn't forget it !!

Just wondering what you guys use to paint ships from these fleets? I'm guessing Free Frnch & post 1939 Polish ships would have eventually used RN & USN stocks but what the 1939 colours? I assume that the Soviets had their own distinct colours, but what comes close?
I'm asking because up here in the Great White North we can't easily get our hands on WEM paints...
