Re: They had to have been REALLY STUPID. There probably is more metal in a/c ducting easily accessed...
Catalytic converter thefts are an everyday thing out here. They go right under a vehicle in broad daylight and hack 'em with a Sawz-all. Guess it only takes someone a minute or so.
Eight to ten years ago we got one of our AC units replaced. The news then & now report on the theft of AC for their copper. I asked the sales tech what was the salvage value of a household AC unit. He said about 50 bux, and that is for an established commercial account. Some dude walking into a scrap yard may get 20 to 30.
But even that will get you through the day
They really are. i live in Salem, 70 miles to the south. It's almost as bad here. Not an uncommon sight to see those little power co. hookup boxes and the small curbside towers for the cable TV hookups busted open around town sometimes and the wires missing out of them.
on many buildings. Maybe they thought: Battleship is made of metal, model must be too! Morons.
Remember this ship that was stolen a few months back in Portland Oregon ? Well, it's shown up pretty well trashed and cut into four big pieces. Apparently stripped of most of the metal in was made of. Found in trash bags near a dumpster in SE Portland. Story and video on KPTV channel 12 news. F'ng tweakers probably. What a stinkin' shame.
