I am currently researching into the British frigate HMS Mermaid which was later known as the Malaysian Navy frigate KD Hang Tuah. Although it only served in the Royal Navy for five years, it is noted that a major refit had been taken place which mainly involving reducing the 40mm Bofors gun into two and changing of the boats configuration. Besides, it is also noted that part of the overhanging second level deck near the funnel stack had been removed up to the original mid-ship 40mm gun location. I would like to seek information in:
When did the concerned refit took place?
What was the extend and shape of the original overhanging second level deck near the funnel?
From photos (see links below), it seems it was covering about half of the gangway below. For the shape, whether it was perpendicular to the to slightly slanted in a round shape similar to the post-refit shape?
