Can't help with your specific question, but experience of building dio's (for 1/1200 waterline warship display)I think the most important thing is to build it on a dead flat surface / base board that will not distort .

I have managed to get my paint-stained hands and glue conjoined fingers on both the 1942 & 1943 sets. I'm thinking of joining them together in one massive display and am wondering if this is even feasible. Has anyone tried this?
I would also like to add a pair of Heller S-Boats and maybe one of their Type 35 minesweepers to "busy it" up a bit.
I'm new to this (dioramas) so if anyone has built either of these sets could you be so kind as to share your experience & offer any tips?
