Switch to 3D printed aircraft and save yourself some grief

I switched to 3D printed aircraft in 1/700 years back. Clear plastic was too brittle nor was it easy snipping landing gear and gluing . Waste my time on that nonsense. Same said for the Skywave aircraft kits. Some manufacturers think it’s modeling building by offering the opportunity of putting pants on a fly in 1/700. I think not in that scale.

I buy 3D printed USN aircraft both WW2 and modern. Come with wings folded or extended. Aircraft loaded with drop tanks and weapons. No multi-pieces to put together. I paint with Polly Scale (acrylic paint) so with one coat I am done. If I wish to fine paint detail of cockpit or engines I breakout my Reaper brushes. End of story.

Other than national insignia which can be seen I do no other decaling. Not worth the effort for that which will not be seen or fit the aircraft in 1/700. Drawback to 3D printed aircraft is they don’t come with propellers or rotors so you have to buy the photo-etch sets. You have to know how to cut the propeller but that comes with experience.

I have absolutely no mold injected aircraft in my inventory. Yup a bit expensive but I brought what I needed over time and never looked back. My time and patience is worth more than plastic aircraft offerings.

BOY, Who came up with the idea of making clear plastic planes??

And How do you paint them?? I getting ready to prime them, But, if I remember, I heard that you would paint them an interior color firs ( the whole plane? ) then paint the base color of the plane.

OH, I deal with 1/700 planes.
