Civilian ships are usually re-named every time the change ownership - and in most cases these ships have long carriers.

Also naval ships are re-named, when sold to other navies - again most of them have long careers, e.g. USS Slater survived as Aetos in Greek service instead of being scrapped as Slater and therefore she still exists today as museum ship.
