Previous MessageAssuming that it had something to do with aligning the guns, why is it so tall? The guns couldn’t elevate that high.
I'm not sure - my initial thought was that it might have been for the forward battery and turret #2 as well, but given it only has two barrels I'm not sure.
There was internal damage forward of Turret #1 so it's plausible (also speculation) that they were checking for minor distortion to the barbette's "level."
