Re: John Ford films of Pearl winter 1942
There may be copies of these at NARA - part of the reason Steve Wiper believes Arizona was blue is because he saw footage at archives 15+ years ago that showed her wreckage as clearly blue and no sign of color shift (his words - I wasn't there). I *think* they were copies of some of Ford's film but could be wrong.
There were problems getting them from NARA on subsequent trips - I've got some notes from ROn Smith's memory but the fourth floor (motion pictures) there is an area I've only been to once, and that was for some microfilm work and I'm not sure how much of a trip I want to burn up looking, and at that point I'm not even sure how I'd go about making reproductions that would be accepted as evidence, etc.
I used to have the stock color footage filmed by the John Ford people in Pearl Harbor in 1942. I can't recall if they ever filmed Arizona. Does anyone else have copies of these films? I would think they would have filmed Arizona, and it would be in color.
