If the photo captions are dated correctly, she still had the boat crane into at least October.

Hello,
I want to model my VF Atlanta as during the Battle of Midway and I got somewhat puzzled by some details.
It seems she no longer shipped her boat complement between the funnels. If yes, what was this area used for?
Did she had some modifications between shakedown cruise and Midway?

The VF kit includes simplified Oerlikons without shields. I'll replace them with the excellent two parts ones from l'Arsenal 2.0.
