My order of a bottle of the Original Blend arrived back on Friday. My hopes to try it out over the weekend tanked, but I have been able to use it today. I am pleased to say that I can see why it gets all the rave reviews it does. I like it very much!
I have to say that Kenny Loup--the owner of the company--is a magnificent guy. I had a minor issue with PayPal, but got it resolved. In the course of our back-and-forth writings, I complained to him about it. Though it was completely an issue with PayPal NOT him, and though I had cleared it up, and his payment was in, he refunded my money, and sent the bottle free! After all he has been through getting his life and the business back up and running after that hurricane, he did this! I told him, I just plain feel bad, but he insisted. This is a wonderful, generous person!
In the course of the emails, I asked if it should be stored in the fridge like CA glue. He replied, "No, just keep it on your workbench." Then he told me his glue was similar to Elmer's, but not as thick. Not good news to me...last time I used any Elmer's, it was a runny watery thing which I would never consider for model building. Fortunately, when his glue came, I was pleased to find this is actually pretty thick. Not runny at all. Stays where it was put. Allows lots of wiggle time. Dries clear. Doesn't mess up plastic. Cleans up with water. His site says it is 100% acrylic.
According to "the literature," it was developed specifically for PE. So, I decided to start with that. I have tons of models with PE where I have just left that off. Studied my shelves. Selected my Flyhawk USS Ward. Had abandoned that build perhaps 2/3 the way through due to PE being "integral/required" to complete it. Have now put down a piece of anchor chain, the deck atop the rear superstructure, and the shielding for the forward gun. Also bonded a plastic part to plastic to see how it did with that. All excellent results! This kit might get finished after all!
Next will be trying some PE "vertical"...on edge (like railings.) Only done "flat stuff" to this point. Need to find out how well it stands that stuff up. But not today. Have put the project aside for now.
Thrilled so far, however. Glad I tried it. Highly recommended!
