The "class" (O Class) is popular in the World of Warships computer game. (In their imaginary world, these were built...) In the game, the ship is named the DKM Siegfried, and is a "Tier IX" cruiser (whatever that is. I don't play it.) So, this is an example of Trumpeter looking to capitalize on the popularity of the WOW game.

The name is made up for the kit. The model is based on the planned follow up battlecruisers Germany was planning for Plan Z. They were of course never built. Previous Message

Has anyone else seen or heard of this warship?
My local store has Trumpeter's 350 scale Barbarossa Battlecruiser on the self.
I thought - am I missing something here? A new kit?

I thought the Kriegsmarine's only ships of this type in the 1930's & '40's were the Scharnhorst Class.
Reading Trumpeter's spill on the box the Barbarossa had the same type of main guns as Bismarck & Tirpitz, but a Battlecruiser. They were going to replace the Deutschland Class.
Barbarossa was never built though.
