Tora, Tora, Tora did not get it wrong with regards to the distance between moored battleships.

Correct. There wasn't sufficient separation to enable aircraft to fly between the ships. This was movie magic. Almost every Pearl Harbor film shows this scene. WRONG!

I'd think certainly not far enough apart for fighter aircraft to fly between them...
