Documentation and photos show turret top colors were still in effect on battleships at the time of the attck.

Jeff Sharp has done some photographic dives that suggest that #3 turret top was #20 Deck gray and that Arizona's turret #1 top was not always painted the same as #2 and might have been consistent with vertical painting, which itself is controversial.

I would like to know this $64,000 question. Did the USS Arizona have her turret tops painted red during Dec. 1941?
If not, what was the color of her turret tops?
