Totally agree, in principle, at least. But, at this point, in open sources, in the US, there is SPQ-9B, and SPY-3. SPQ-9B is being installed, and "the literature" indicates clear plans to do more installations. SPY-3 is only on the Ford, and the 3 Zumwalts, and there are no more published plans for it. It then looks like, certainly for the foreseeable present, our X-band will be SPQ-9B. I would like to believe this is not the end of the story, and that we are continuing to work further on it. We probably won't be publishing much about it, however. (Hey, China, our new X-band will be the XYZ-2000 with super whiz-bang capabilities to locate and track objects the size of a pin head at 100 miles! Get your spies to work...)
As with all this stuff..."We'll see" with time.
