Remember the theme of the 2007 IPMS-USA national show in Anaheim was “Lights, camera, action”? I entered my mostly scratch-built 1/600 Type 15 frigate HMS Undaunted
. I noted on the entry form that Undaunted
was a sister ship of HMS Wakeful
, the only actual ship to appear in the movie, and included the poster for The Bedford Incident. She should have won but that’s Hollywood.
"The live- action images of the fictitious Bedford, outside and inside, are of and from Britiish frigates. The modelers created a miniature replica based on the US Navy Farragut-class Frigate (later destroyer) Leader." https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058962/trivia/?ref_=tt_trv_trv
The U.S. ship was a "Sellers" class DDG, the exterior shots of Denzel landing from a helicopter on board was a WW2 British (Type 15) conversion of DDs the "Emergncy" classes: O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, C, W, V, Z classes. Ships from these classes were the ones modernized.
A British warship is used for the interior/exterior scenes. The model ship scenes appears as American type. Cannot tell which not my area. 1954's Caine Mutiny appeared to me more critical of the US Navy than Bedford Incident which is from 1965.
