3D printed model off the evil site
I purchased the Enterprise and Forrestal in 1/700. Don’t recall manufacturer. You get basic shapes but crisp details are lacking (CIWS were terrible) and some details lacking in entirety. Most printed on and you are stuck with it. There were no instructions. Decals were wrong. They look nice in photos but really a scratch builder’s nightmare.
Much depends on the subject being modeled. I purchased the 1/700 USNS Mercy and a RDF RO-RO from Shapeways. Not much detail to them. Pole mast here, radar there, paint, decal and done.
My two cents.
If I remember correctly, some members of this e-forum have purchased Gaga 3D printed ship models. I was wondering what your impressions are? How detailed are they? Are there any 3D printing artifacts (layering/striations) on the parts/components? They have what looks like a few nice kits, including an HMS Implacable.
Pricey but tempting.
