One mistake people often make is equating past events with the present. One must be careful to differentiate between them. Agonizing over Munich is one of the factors that got us mired in Vietnam. Yes, we need to LEARN from past history, but we need to be certain that we’re getting the correct lesson.
The Ukrainian situation is very different than the European situation in July 1914. There is not an apt equivalence. Russia stands basically alone. The only other great power who could align with them, China, has no interest in getting into a European war simply to assist a mad dictator.
I wonder if anyone in our government read the "Guns of August"
