The WEST VIRGINIA, based on a 350th scale Tom's Modelworks kit, was built for a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack - Mr Dick Fiske, CPl, USMC (Ret'd), who was a Bugler onboard the WEST VIRGINIA in 1941. The model was presented to him at the USS ARIZONA Memorial Museum in Pearl Harbor, in JAN 1999.
HMCS SIOUX was built using a WEM 350th scale HMS JANUS as the starting point, and was built for the father of a fellow co-worker, whose dad served onboard the SIOUX during the Second World War.
In both cases, the builds were worth it.
Cheers,
Chris Preston
