I’ve used it to thin Tamiya. My nose trained by Dr Wilson’s organic chemistry tells me it is similar to the Tamiya thinner. It is an alcohol product. I liberated a bottle or three from a conference room at work, but you can find it at your local Staples or other office supply store.
