DD--776 James C. Owens.....
For my Father a 1944 Plank Owner. Took the 1/192 Fletcher from BlueJacket - yes, I know: 18 inches in 1/192 error(.09375 inch). New superstructure and twin 5" from H&R. Also did a Revell USS Pine Island as Pine Island. Best friend's father was the Engineering Officer all through the war. Both were well received.
I was just wondering what kits, and why. I've done it three times-
BWN USS Sturgeon as USS Pintado, for my best friend, who was a bubblehead aboard her,
Revell USS Montrose as USS Bosque, for my wife's uncle, who was a radioman aboard Bosque during WW2 and witnessed the surrender ceremonies at Tokyo Bay,
and Arii USS Midway, for my uncle, who served aboard her during Viet Nam (I also served briefly aboard Midway, but after he did).
Sadly, the Midway model was lost during the Camp Wildfire in 2018, which destroyed his home and most of the town of Paradise, where my uncle had retired.
So let's hear YOUR stories!
