I didn't enjoy building the model - I am mostly a ship guy working in 340 scale or larger.
I built a model of a World War I ambulance. My grandfather drove one in France during World War 1. I gave it to my sister who is very interested in our family history.

I was just wondering what kits, and why. I've done it three times-
BWN USS Sturgeon as USS Pintado, for my best friend, who was a bubblehead aboard her,
Revell USS Montrose as USS Bosque, for my wife's uncle, who was a radioman aboard Bosque during WW2 and witnessed the surrender ceremonies at Tokyo Bay,
and Arii USS Midway, for my uncle, who served aboard her during Viet Nam (I also served briefly aboard Midway, but after he did).
Sadly, the Midway model was lost during the Camp Wildfire in 2018, which destroyed his home and most of the town of Paradise, where my uncle had retired.
