I believe this footage is from the pre-CORAL SEA battle, at which time the units from DesRon 2 assigned to escort USS YORKTOWN were USS ANDERSON (DD-411), HAMMANN (DD-412), SIMS (DD-409), WALKE (DD-416), and RUSSELL (DD-414).
I have to disagree with Dick on the first destroyer seen, it is USS WALKE (DD-416) from the hull number and configuration of rafts.
HMAS AUSTRALIA makes an appearance shortly before the 1.0 min mark.

Carriers are Yorktown and Lexington through out. DD at opening is Hughes, a Sims class. Cruisers included Chicago, Indianapolis, and Australia. Also visible are an unidentified New Orleans class ship, and Sims, Farragut and Mahan class DDs. Previous Message
