Wow! I never noticed that before. I just looked through all of the LIFE August ‘41 pics of Enterprise and her Fighters indeed had white markings.

That is right. CV-6 was to switch, but it took awhile, so early war, she had both.

One of the CarDivs used white numbers and letter and the other used black.
