The large white wing panels would be visible from angles where he wake could not be seen. Also, spotting a wake could tell you there was a ship, even a large one, but not how juicy a target.
...the aircraft. But, when seen from the air an aircraft carrier is a very large target, typically trailing a very visible wake. Would a few white wing panels showing on the deck really make it any more vulnerable, or blue wing panels make it any less?
What's easier to replace?
