Correction to nameship of class 'Blackwood' as opposed to 'Blackwall''.
The class were known as 'Utility frigates', but some would rather call them 'futility'.
50 years ago, on 9th of December 1971, the Indian frigate INS Khukri (Type 14, Blackwall class) was sunk by the Pakistani submarine PNS Hangor in the Third Indian Pakistani War - one of the few examples of a successful submarine attack after World War Two.
