THE ORIGINAL STORY JUST SAYS FIRST FIGHTER, which is correct as for US a/c HELICOPTERS!!!

I read the news about this a day or so ago and they used a similar description:
'The first US Navy aircraft to launch from a Japanese ship since WW2...'
Hmmm,...just exactly what were they referring to? When and under what circumstances did a US aircraft launch from a Japanese warship? The surviving IJN carriers were in poor shape at the end of the war. I am not aware of any captured US aircraft launching from IJN carriers. Did a US floatplane launch from a captured sub or from the Nagato of Sakawa before Bikini? Just what event is that claim based on?
