Thanks for your comments. I am familiar with the hypocracy of the definition of this ship and think it's high time the terms of reference for the JSDF were brought up to date with the reality of how the world is, rather than how it was in 1945.
If nothing else they should explain why there are no torpedo tubes on the destroyer!
The Japanese Constitution only allows the JMSDF to have "destroyers" as major surface combatants.
However, if it quacks like duck, walks like a duck, etc.
Is it now classed officially as a 'carrier' and not ...a 'destroyer' - was it?
