Re: An ounce of prevention...
Very rare to have this problem, for exactly this same reason.
But when I do, a little scalding hot water run over the jar in the sink--and the adjustable grip pliers--always does the trick.
I got in the habit a number of years ago of wiping off the threads and inside of the lid before closing the bottle again. Makes a world of difference and most of my paints will open by hand, although I do still have the Channel-Locks close by when things get tough.
When upside down with the thinner, lightly tap the cap a few times every now and then. The slight vibrations will help the thinner dp it's job.
yo "Fellas" ever have a paint bottle cap not want to come off!!even with pliars?? turn the bottle upside down, with a brush load the threads of the cap with lacquer thinner and let set a bit, and WAMMO!! the cap breaks loose give er a try guys! happy modeling and remember, keep modeling and ALWAYS with a smile" ))
