Bob P....I would, but......
I'm still married and Wife would throw me out with the 1/96 scale model of an FF or FFG!!!
Besides, Where would I store it?? But I, FOR SURE, would put lights galore on her!!!!
Oh, thanks Moe! ( :>} ) I go to my optometrist next Tuesday and YES my eyes are NOT the same either. Makes reading and modeling a real pain at times. I now wonder what is in store for me?
Like you I will check out that viewer. Sounds good doesn't it?
I JUST came back from visiting the optometrist, and she tells me that I have to go two (2) steps up from my previous prescription.....the Sad thing was that one lens is Stronger than the other (never heard of that happening but alright [??]). I still use my on-my-head visor with a 3X mag and ONLY work for about 1.5 hours at a time.
But, I'll check out that magnifier. Thanks for the info.
I do not know about others but my eyes are going bad and I can not see items up close anymore without help. My work table is covered in those swing arm LED magnifying lights. I have 3 and they kind of look like cranes. I position them for best light and then have to reposition them if I wish to use the magnifying lens. I usually canít get the perfect angle I want from the swing arm so I have to reposition myself. The lens is usually never big so when not using the swing arms I use a magni-visor over my eyeglasses. All a big pain in the butt and I feel I tire out quicker.
I ordered a full page magnifier from Hammacher Schlemmer. Similar in many ways to a swing arm LED lit magnifier with the exception this has a nice big rectangular lens which can be angled . Has dimming LED lights and sits far closer to the work surface. So I can sit back place my hands and model parts beneath the lens and go to work. Itís only 3X but it far better than wearing a visor for an hour and pulling on the swing arms. I think it only draw backs was you have to be careful not mar the lens with paint or glue and the LED lights have a slight blue hue.
$100. and not a bad investment. Good bye visor and those swing arms can now stay in place for best light.
Hi out there in kit building land. I feel so sorry for you guys. Wait till you hit my age 92 and have ONE good eye.
But I have a cure! Come over to the Dark Side and go only 1/96 scale.
