Terrific idea and great explanation!
If it helps I increased the angle slightly of these side bulkheads to match the sides of the hull. So each side was mirrored, I added a plastic bulkhead at the rear of each side bulkhead. The bridge decks at each side was also angled out to secure fit to each bulkhead. The deck at the top of the bridge didn't require any modification at all. Hope that helps and it will be a change to all my future model Sprucans.
yes on the back angled bulkheads as not needed on front part of superstructure that meets hull sides.
did you did it on Both sides....I'm assuming 'yes', can you confirm.
Thanks, for your input.
cannot remember if I added plastic to the top of the superstructure til I look at my model but do know that I added plastic to the angled bulkheads that go from the hull to the central part of the superstructure. that was the only area plastic had to be added to correct the problem.
I can see from other posts and looking at 'NavSource' I can see what you mean, but what about the kit(s)??
What would you do??? I'm curious, please don't take this the wrong way, but would you add plastic card onto the kit, lay it on top (?), cut the superstructure into smaller pieces and Then add strips of plastic????
Thanks for your time.
do you want a copy of the drawings?
to fix this 'problem'??
This is the second time I hear of this -- superstructure needs to be FLUSH with the hull ( aka = no lip ) First with a 'TICO.' class now with this SPRUANCE-class
Is there a kit that corrects this/you recommend for a "better fit".... OR.... would you just deal with it.... OR.... adjust the superstructure so that it is flush?
I have a 1/700 TICONDEROGA and NORMANDY, so I'm Not sure it that will show that much.
Thanks for your time.
forward port & starboard bulkheads of the superstructure right at the edge of the deck & hull with no lip formed there?
Hi all. My latest assembled model shown.
DML Modern Seapower Series 350 scale. I also used Tetra PE railing and helo netting set.
A note of thanks to the gentleman on Steelnavy forum who provided plans to enable me to do a better model.
Not a perfect job, but I'm going to continue to build these Spruance kits until I can get them perfectly assembled. This may eventually entail all 31 Spruances being assembled!
Just on these Destroyers and specifically Litton, is there any plans / diagrams on the Launching Platform that they use to launch their ships? It'd be great to mount my model on the platform as a diorama.
