Don Montgomery passed away back on September 1st. 2021.
Don was a US Navy Veteran, wounded in Vietnam, later worked as a civilian contractor for the US Navy in the Washington DC area, and could often be found at the US Naval Historical Center Photographic Branch, or at the US National Archives doing research on a few of his favorite topics.
One of those topics was US navy camouflage.
He is the person who found the motion picture films of the US battleships at Pearl Harbor painted Sea Blue (5-S), amongst other great finds.
He worked with Chuck Haberlein to save and caption the 80-G-K color images from the US Navy.
He was gracious enough to help me learn how to research at both the National Archives and the US Naval Historical Center.
He will be missed.
