What measure do you think she was painted up in? Looks awfully light.
Here is a rare look at USS Indianapolis at Pearl Harbor the first week of April 1942. This photo was taken from the sub base looking at the Navy Yard and Ford Island. Indianapolis is being escorted out of the Navy Yard by a tug. Her crew is manning the rails. In the far distance just to the right of the large floating crane YD-25 you can see USS California still at berth F-3 just days away from being refloated.
I suspect this is the day Indianapolis left Pearl for the States for her April '42 refit at Mare Island.
