I don't think anyone is surprised by the higher cost of resin vs styrene. What they are saying is that if they pay all that money, regardless of the medium, they should NOT have to totally
rebuild the thing for reasonable accuracy on the basic shape and configuration. Perfection is not being asked, just get it somewhat close to reality.
Perhaps those, who pay (more) for a resin kit, are really interested in building a model of a specific ship and are therefore also willing to correct a kit?
Whereas others are more interested in the perfect and best cheap kit?
The expectation that a resin kit, which has to be more expensive than a plastic kit because of the way it is produced, has to be perfect because of the higher price, is difficult to understand. The price is mainly based on the way the kit is produced and not an indicator for quality.
