Thanks Ed! Re: Atlantis Re-release in Dec
Originally that set was to be available in August. I wondered what had happened. Yours is the first info I have seen on this kit since then. And for the others Atlantis is taking pre-orders now for the October 15the release of the USS North Carolina. I suspect Atlantis has the other Renwal molds. I hope so!
Atlantis plans to release Renwal's A and B set 1/1200 ships in Dec in a single kit.
I followed the same pattern as Jon. IIRC, I built most (if not all) of these ships. That includes the Polaris boomers. (One SSBN model that I built is still on display in the Nuclear Engineering Department at NC State Universityback.
One of the nice features of Renwal kits was the hidden glue locations. While these kits lacked the molded details that we see today, they were ex exceptionally innovative for that time period.
I would be tempted to build several of the old Renwal ships if they came back.
BTW, who remembers the 1/1200 scale models of the Renwal line and the passed base in which to display them?
I built all of the Renwal kits in the sixties when I was in late grade and early high school. I regarded them as much better than the early Revell kits (Missouri thru FDR.) and a bit better than the later Revell kits (Forrestal and later). I didn't do any research or measurements, but I certainly wished they had done more kits.
