Re: 1/500 scale ship models
I built a Renwall North Carolina back when they appeared in the market. Simple, robust with vert good detail--my favorite BB model! When I was in Junior High, I bought a 1/535 Missouri kit at a store in downtown Tucson, AZ. It was in the early long, narrow box. Cost $1.55. I bought the Revell ARIZONA, must have been about 1958 or thereabouts, because the movie Bridge on the River Kwai had just hit the theaters. So, I had to make a choice--see the movie or buy the Arizona kit. I went and saw the movie; next week I bought the Arizona. Lovely model!
A few years later, I bought a Revell Essex class carrier (1/576 scale?). I don't remember the name Revell assigned to the kit, but it was my favorite aircraft carrier model. In 1969-71 I did two cruises on USS HANCOCK as a member of one of the embarked squadrons. I was a wet-behind-the-ears new First Class Petty Officer.
I was looking at Youtube of the 2021 IPMS Nats and read announcemnt from Atlantis models. At the nats
Revell Germany is going to reissue the USS Sarasota
APA-204. Atlantis models is going to reissue the USS North Carolina BB-55. Both of these are of the old Renwal line.Any one recall building one of these?
