Re: Almost all available in resin
Hi, yes I'm aware of that. Unfortunately, however, I have found that for an intermediate modeller such as myself, who hasn't much skill in PE etc, resin ships are of much less interest. I have only completed one resin kit (Combrig 1/700 HMS Tiger) and of all the kits I have ever built it was by some distance the most expensive, the most difficult to build accurately, the least good looking upon completion, and not the most accurate either - (I'm sure that the main turrets are too small, and the freeboard seems too high.) Also, after 3 years, the hull has assumed a 'banana' shape and has come away from the base, and as the model is built and painted, I don't think it's repairable.
In the hands of an expert modeller, I've no doubt that resin kits are an excellent option, but I don't have the skill or deep enough pockets for them myself.
Almost all of these ships are available as 1/700 resin kits by Combrig, L'Arsenal, and NNT. In my view, new resin kits are much better than plastic kits.
The only one missing is HMS Defence.
