Re: HOOD was a wet ship
No you're not missing anything. The Flyhawk suggested paint products are fine. It's just the graphic that seems to have printed excessively dark.
This is Nick Charnock's HMS Hood in 1/350 scale painted with my paint as recommended on the Flyhawk instructions too.
The film clip really demonstrates that HOOD was a wet ship even a moderate sea. It would have been tough on any sailors trying to work on the deck.
It seems to me that the dark gray in the film is not as dark as the paint in the graphics. Have I missed something?
One of the recent posts about Flyhawk's HMS Hood kit had a photo of the painting instructions. Wow - that is a very dark grey. How does this compare to the US navy pre war dark grey? I use mainly Humbrol enamels. Does anyone know which Humbrol paint would be the best match? Also, with such a dark tone, will anyone be looking to lighten it to give a scale effect?
