I own kits of all 4 of the Mogami class & both of the Tone class in this scale. Yes they are old kits, and show the limitations of the molding technology of the 1960's (???) when they were first released. To date, I have found someone who is designing & 3d printing rear lower hull inserts to correct the motorized 2 shaft 1 rudder configuration to the correct 4 shaft 2 rudder one. Now, my attention is turning to the upper detail parts. In my kits, all the the antennae's that fit on the superimposed gun turrets are solid triangular pieces of plastic, does anyone make something in PE or resin that could be used to replace these? Likewise for the searchlight platforms, which should have a four-sided girder like structure instead of solid shapes? Finally, would the resin catapults offered by Di Stepano be suitable replacements for the chunky kit ones? Please note that I do not want to super-detail these kits, but simply improve them by correcting their more obvious shortcomings. Thanks for reading.
