There is a report and fleet order about the first 20-B from late 41 or early 42. When applied to new or newly resurfaced teak decks it would fail to adhere in sheet peel mode. You can imagine how bad that would be.
The fleet order allowed the use of 5-O, 5-O mixed with 20-B or running bright until the teak weathered at the vessel CO's discretion. You see a lot of light decks, both steel and wood, that are painted well into 42.
Just wondering . Mr Raven said it was experimental. If it wasnít used what were the decks painted? Canít believe they go out of their way to paint hull and superstructure in preparation for war but leave the decks natural wood or metal.
