That's exactly why we focused on these kits. The subject was a fantastic choice, they just fell short in the accuracy department, but yet so many modelers have at least 1 in the stash or on the shelf of doom. Our goal is that these sets inspire folks to dust these little diamonds in the rough off and bring them to completion.
A lot of people were excited about the Midship kits, at least until they saw the horrible accessory fret that was included. Aftermarket sets like these, plus updated offering of fittings by Fine Molds, Model Monkey and others might be the incentive needed to get these kits out of the stash and onto the work table.
True, there is a need for better "between-the-wars" destroyer kits not only in 1/700scale, but in 1/350 scale. But, likely demand for kits of these ships is somewhere WAY at the bottom of model kit makers "to-do" lists.
However, there are a lot of the Midships kits out there. Many are in people's stash. I have two or three of them myself. I see them for sale on vendor's tables at model shows all the time. Even my favorite local model store that recently closed still had them in stock on their shelves.
