In the age of sail, there were some examples, especially of larger, first-rate warships. But these were often for decades not in service and in addition very few of the original parts remained in the ship after 100 years. In the age of sail, there had been also many ships, which served only a decade before being dismantled again. Today, are more than 30 year old cruiser/destroyer/frigate is both at the end of its normal lifetime and usually also outdated.
