Re: 1/350 USS WISCONSIN.
Very nice John!!!
The USS WISCONSIN assembled from Tamiya's original 1/350 New Jersey kit from 1984. It's prior owner had not done any work on it for a very long time.. Say 1984!
The hull, deck, and parts of the superstructure had been painted as best they could, but I decided to scrub and sand this away and add new finishes.
The kit decals just broke up into many pieces and were write off's so I raided my decal stash to add hull numbers, ship's name, and helo markings to do the WISCONSIN instead.
Slightly customised Conning Tower adding additional superstructure from Evergreen Styrene and gunfire control dome which I think came from WEM'S Stoddard resin kit.
I utilised Tom's Modelworks hand rails around the ship.
I mixed my own colour shade for those teak decks based on online photos and especially the superb Navsource website.
Wonderful that this kit was finally completed - "re-activated", after so many decades.
I enjoyed so much building this one. The IOWA's sure have beautiful lines.
