Is this kit a worthwhile buy or what? I've immediately noticed the price on the ebay site has dropped by 8%. Apart from the generosity of the seller, why else would a discount be offered after 3 out of ten have sold?
Is the inaccuracy of the bow/fore deck correctable or would it be something the 2021 modeller should just put up with, and leave (with a sigh)? I can't really be bothered with attempting to remedy major casting or molding errors on ship kits that cost over $100, and particularly 1/700 scale which I don't like mainly because the small scale is difficult when you're ham fisted, and need to work with a visor under the brightest lamp even when wearing glasses. The sole reason I do model in this scale is because of the enormous choice of subject and accessories. My preference is 400/600 which is very limited, and I'm very happy with the old Revell box scale*.
I am annoyed that a kit manufacturer cannot do his homework and get, if anything, the basic shape of their subject accurate. If they can manage inaccurate, why not the other? And then they will charge like a wounded bull.
Still, I like the decal and photo-etch sheet supplied and the palisades are included, thanks again for all the photos and links and that Ough model IS wonderful.
*Perhaps inaccurate too and some badly molded also, but these kits are available if you look and very rarely are they expensive, except the first editions.
