Re: Neil McCart books
I have no idea if he is still around, but I found his books disappointing. The narrative was mainly just a line by line account of each day in service.
And, as Chris says, not much technical or modelling info.
I think the subjects chosen deserved a far deeper anaysis and fear that because they have now been 'covered' no publisher will take the risk of any further books on those individual subjects.
I recently picked up a copy of Neil McCart's Town Class Cruisers book (published in 2012). I have a few others of his books (Hermes/the Ark Royals, Illusitrious/Implacables and the Colossus class carrier books). I enjoy them for the service histories of the ships. Not so much as technical or modeling references.
I was wondering if he is still around and still writing books? His bio on the book cover was rather vague. Looks like he started writing in the 90's and up through 2014 as I can tell. His books are often high up there in the used book markets.
Would love to see a book on the Fiji's and the Dido's as well. Not to mention the heavy cruiser classes.
