Re: Gearing FRAM 1.
Indeed. I have replacements for all the weapons, Veteran for the ASROC, Black Cat for the 5". I'm also going to use GMM radar and such. The hull sides are bulged, I suspect from an old mold, but it is full hull, and the bulges can be sanded out. But the OH looks damn nice. I have the Knox as well, and had the same problem fitting the lower hull.
But be advised the overall quality of the ISW kit is, how should I say, problematic. I suspect the OH kit would be a much, much better starting point.
Iron Shipwrights makes a 1/350 Gearing FRAM.
Hi, say has anyone here built one of these? https://www.bnamodelworld.com/model-ships-boats-orange-hobby-oh-n03-145-1:350-rocs-de-yang-ddg-925
I'm attracted to the idea of buying this kit and backdating it to USN service but as you can see from the link it's very different weapon and radar fit out. Also the aft lattice mast differs and I'd need to change that too.
Drama, drama, drama, from the last Orange Hobby kit I did which was a KNOX class and the upper and lower hull did not match and I don't want a repeat of that.
Is this the only FRAM 1 kit out there for sale presently? I've thought about conversion options from Tamiya's FLETCHER, or Dragon's GEARING kits.
