I understand what you are saying about the planking on the 01 level. But, for me in 1/700 the planking on the whole cannot/should not be visible. Furthermore all these decks on my kit will be deck blue (I'll finish her as she was in the Pacific - MS 22). It's so dark, it makes no difference to me.
Never posted my findings, sorry
Agree that they did well and this should build up nicely. My pet peeves-
They must have relied on the 1/350 Hobby Boss kit, so they missed the planking on the 01 deck
Included PE is bit of a let down, price isn't as high but still I would be happy to have paid another $20 for a comprehensive PE se like included in 1/350
Gun tubs seem way too short and thick, I have seen better from Trumpeter and obviously I am just spoiled by Flyhawk
Other than that, this is a very nice kit that will build into a beautiful representation of these beautiful ships. It serves as a fantastic base for someone to go hog wild with upgrade parts.
PS> Just saw last night on eBay, there is a 3D printed lower hull available for this kit.
Well, I must give a preliminary well done to Trumpeter on their new 1/700 USS Alaska kit. Forget about the armor belt issue (already been discussed below - will have to fix it), however, the major parts of the kit are very well detailed and fit snugly with no flash on them. Well done!
