and Even Recognized, "...hey, I can help this dude!!"
I, myself, know Very Little about the GALVESTON, until this client asked if I could build this for her Vietnam Vet Dad! I knew it had to be a cruiser, but that was it.
So, I went to 'navsource' and looked up this ship, saw it was a Talos launcher....so I was More interested in that and how it worked! ( Believe ME....I can't help but be in AWE, on how they assembled the missile components ... While Out @ SEA!!! )[by-the-way...ran into a Killer video of somebody in France scratch-building the launcher as a model....Quite a Sight!!!]. But getting back to CLG-3, I concentrated a lot of time on that not realizing ... hey there are other ships of that 'class'. Though LITTLE ROCK did resemble her a little, I really didn't look at her nor OKLAHOMA CITY also sim to GALVESTON bcuz those two (2) ships were converted into flagships.
It Really is an interesting story, and on top of that...they converted three (3) Other CLEVELAND-class vessels to carry Terrier missiles, two (2) of those into flagships and one Very similar to GALVESTON, but with other missile and different arrangement of radar masts!!!
It has Really peaked my interest in getting this same kit and Niko's Terrier launching SPRINGFIELD as a flagship. AND THEN... purchasing CANBERRA as a dual-aft Terrier launcher PLUS the ALBANY plastic model kit!!!!!
But .... I want to stay married!
Nice looking work there, Moe.
Glad I had that one photo and that it answered your question. Hope you enjoy the rest. I think it's great you ask "how do sailors get around this model ship?" That's one more step that helps in making an accurate model beyond "well, I've got some photos and it seems to match." I'll admit I'd probably have been lazy and not even thought to ask the question.
