I was assigned to four (4) "smaller combantants" in my 20+ years in service.
I could tell you the names of those ships, but as another fellow did to me...I'm going to 'play this game with you'!!
USN ships are given radio call signs, those call signs are the same as our pennants that we could fly to 'announce' who we are.
Those ships are from 1st to last: NVXR, NDBD, NASW, NMDK.
I can't really say which one was most interesting because they all were, my 1st and last units I spent the shortest amount of time ~3 years, but they were 'exciting too'.
I guess a favorite, which would be hard for me to build as a model... was HMCS Kootenay DDE-258 where I spent five (5) days as an exchange sailor. Very Lucky, because I just got off watch and my CPO asked me if I want to go to a Canadian ship for a week...I JUMPED out of my rack!!!
Thou there is a "model" of Kootenay in 700 and its a 3D-printed model, BUT I Sure would like to get a 350 to match my other ships!
You can e-m me for more info.... email@example.com
Good luck in those names!! Let me know how you do.
Hey Moe, I see that you were serving in the Navy for quite a while.
Please tell us what ships that you were on and which ones were the most interesting?
